I Have Lost 23 Pounds!

I Just weighed in after a few weeks where I couldn’t get over to my “standard” scale and I was very happy to see that I am now down from 245lbs to 222 lbs !! WOOO!

That is a total of 23 lost pounds since the first of the year. The average weekly loss is 1.5 lbs not huge, but the cumulative effect is awesome.

I feel great and of course every bit of clothing I have fits loose and comfy.

I am sticking to my main plan which is a protein only diet, though I do have salads. But I am definitely staying away from the simple carbs. Which means no bread, no sugar, no tortillas (torture), no desert, no ice cream, no potatoes,no rice, no chips etc…I have broken down 2 times for a couple of days. I have also dramatically decreased the amount  / volume of food that I was previously consuming as well. I am eating a lot less than before.

I am not promoting or endorsing or even saying what I am doing is safe or guaranteed or recommended .You need to do your own due diligence when deciding to lose weight and consult your personal health care providers. Do not do what I do just because it works for me !

My exercise has been sporadic  and so that really has not been an overall contributor to my weight loss.

If you are dieting or considering trying a weight loss program or diet system, stick with your plan. You will lose weight, but you have to stick to it and not give up when it doesn’t seem to be working.

Anyway here is to making it go right and losing weight !

Debbie And Rene

I went tonight to the awesome Gypsy Den in Santa Ana.

They have an open mike night every Thursday evening and have some very talented people come and play. It is actually a lot of fun.

I went tonight because my lovely daughter Rene and her beautiful friend Debbie were performing and they rocked.

Not only did they do a great job performing but they also wrote and arranged the songs themselves !

Ahhh I love talented people! They make the world go round.

Here is a video of them singing their original song “Pretty Lady”

Enjoy !

One more pound in the history books

Well today’s weigh-in left me at 227 lbs.

Man it took 2 solid weeks to lose that last pound. That seems odd to me. I will have to inspect my routine and adjust it as needed.

But the good news is I have yet to gain any weight. The program is progressing not regressing.

My goal here is to speed this weight loss up. I think it would be great to lose about 2 or 3 lbs. a week.

So now I will have to work out how to do that.

As a note the total weight lost since the first of the year is now 18 lbs.

This week in my weight loss saga

I weighed myself yesterday and found myself at 228lbs. I guess the good thing is that I didn’t gain any weight last week!

I exercised this week and kept my diet on the same lines as before. So I am not really sure what changed that would cause me to not lose any weight.

A few other notes:

I have noticed that my appetite has diminished tremendously. I also realized that many of the signals I had previously accepted as hunger signals from my body were really cravings for food. That is a significant differentiation to make as cravings do not mean you must to eat . They are simply desires that in this case are better unheeded and actually have nearly disappeared with my policy of ignoring them.

So now I am eating way…way less food than before. So that battle has been won!

Yes ! I have now lost 17lbs.

I did my weekly weigh in yesterday and I was down to 228lbs!

While some of you may be saying “228lbs? DUDE! What haven’t you been eating?

I’ll say to you “Hey…Shut Up!” I started this work @ 245lbs and now I am down to 228 that is a big chunk of weight gone for me.

My target weight is 180lbs. So I have lost 26% of the weight in 8 weeks. Nice.

I have added some exercise though it is not very structured yet. (my next drill is organizing my schedule down to each dotted “i” and crossed “t”)

Anyway I was very excited to see my progress yesterday and I can’t wait to get  to my target weight !

I also can’t wait for a some Chocolate Gelato!

Ha Ha!

Keep making your goals happen!

Exercise

I increased my exercise a bit yesterday. Instead of just doing a good strong steady walk for a hour I changed to a jog and walk routine.

It really got the heart pumping and the juices flowing. I kept the jogging at short intervals so as not to kill my knees and also because after about half an hour of walk and jog I was getting pretty tired.

I don’t know if the exercise pushed my body into a “burn the fat” mode or not but my son did tell me last night that he could notice I was loosing weight! Nice.

I have been noticing my jeans and slacks fitting looser and my shirts are definitely feeling much bigger lately.

I am beginning to feel like I am getting somewhere on my weight loss again regardless of what the weight reads on the scale. It is diminishing and that’s what counts.

I will make this 180lbs. target I am confident about that.

I will post more pictures as soon as I convince myself to do it. ( it is a bit embarrasing you know!)

Weight Loss Continues

Well it wasn’t very much loss but it was some loss. I lost 1 pound this week. Ha Ha ! but it is a continued loss so I continue.

I am feeling better lately though.

The need to eat is diminishing .You know those urges to eat now, are going away. So that’s a good thing.

Tomorrow is my Weigh in Day

Tomorrow morning will be my next weigh in and so we will see how well my current strategy is going.

I am going to have to remedy the scale situation at the house because I don’t like waiting a week between weigh ins. It’s just too much time. It doesn’t allow for taking quick enough action.

So tomorrow we will see if the weight loss continues!

Steve White…Not Just The Blues

I attended another of the concerts produced by Lord of The Strings last night. Tim and Tina do a fantastic job of booking world class acts and presenting them in intimate settings. Kudos to them for their work!

Last nights treat was Steve White. Steve is a blues based musician with the most unique style I have ever witnessed. Steve utilizes every inch of his body when he performs, literally!  His left foot is his drummer, his right foot is his rhythm section and his hands manipulate his unique guitars with Bass lines, slide guitar and tasty chops all seemingly executed at the same time.  On top of that you can add his harmonica playing and a warm gravely voice that makes the entire experience a bold and striking evening of entertainment.

There is one thing that has lingered in my mind since last nights performance…something that has left me with a haunted feeling…

Let me tell you the story.

There was a hush in the room, slowly the beat began echoing around and through anticipating crowd. The rhythm joined in bringing to life the tapping toes and then suddenly night was filled with the most soulful rendering of a song I have ever heard.  What was that song with such soul…what was that song with such emotion and presence ?

Love Potion Number 9 !

Whoa..I never saw that coming!

Go and see Steve for yourself when you get the chance.

Long Live the Acoustic guitar!
